Space as Magic, by Andrey Troitsky

Trying something new… to keep the main news post shorter, I’m moving the recs into a preview of the Media Recs post sent to supporters. There is a lot of detail below the paywall, but this month’s book recs: Alastair Reynolds' science fiction "Revelation Space," Gareth Powell's "Embers of War," Heather Fawcett's fantasy "Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales" (Emily Wilde, #3), Barbara Vine's psychological thriller "House of Stairs," odd Uketsu's mystery "Strange Pictures” and some things about him, Kristin Perrin's "How to Solve Your Own Murder," and Kate Atkinson's literary mystery "Big Sky" (Jackson Brodie #5).

In TV shows: the Norwegian noir "Wisting," "Mayfair Witches" (Season 2), BBC Gaelic language murder mystery "The Island / an t-Eilean," Paramount+'s "Crow Girl," "Mythic Quest," "Severance," and "White Lotus" via The Onion.

The games: classic 3D open world narrative mystery "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture," the Nordic folklore-inspired narrative adventure "Röki.”

If you don’t want to receive the recs post, you can unsub to that sub newsletter. But I hope you do, because it’s the best part, IMO.
